Do you want to create content for your social media platform or blog, but don’t know where to start? One simple resource you can use… is your company’s logo!
Here are a couple of ways you can use your logo to design social media content that consistently reflects your company’s brand:
- Use identical colors — This will not only subconsciously reinforce the branding found in your established identity but repeating identical colors can give a simple (obvious) compliment (or highlight) to new visual content
- Use the same (or complementary) fonts — Hopefully, you like the font in your company’s logo. Liking a font will make you more likely to use it in design. And, like using it! When creating visual content (which type is visual), be sure to use complimentary fonts (like one serif and one non-serif) and I suggest not using more than two in one image. - Use shapes from a logo — Depending on shapes used in your logo, this could be a simple aspect to duplicate. Suggestions I have for using shapes: use an actual shape to create the shape of an image, find similar shapes in creative content or original photographs, or impose similar shapes into backgrounds.
- Use your logo — When posting social media content, you hope that it is going to be “shared” or “liked” to reach more people. Keeping your logo on content assures that your brand follows your post. Something else to consider when putting a logo onto an image is: (one) be sure you have permission to use a background and (two) be conscious where you place your logo – if it is a great image and your logo can easily be cropped off the image, as some point, you may, unfortunately, lose your original content.
Now, I’m not suggesting always using literal translations of these ways to use your logo to create content – creative license and reserved artistic interpretation are certainly just as important to creating your voice. But, remember that visual cues need to be subtle, simple and always consistent.
Those are my tips of the week for creating great marketing content that is consistent, reflects a great value for your brand and, hopefully, communicates and grows your social market!

Jen – Yes, consistent brand-building is very important, whether you literally use your logo or repeat an aspect of your logo. I think it will even make you smile when you are on your platforms to see the consistencies… there seems to be a level of ownership with confident identity. Thanks for sharing!! Darla
